Traditional craftsmanship, modern comfort
At John Miller Upholstery Ltd, we combine traditional upholstery methods with practical materials suited to modern use. We build solid beech frames with screwed, glued and dowelled joints, while fully sprung seats can incorporate CMHR foam or traditional horsehair and felt for heritage pieces. Foam and fibre wrap or feather cushion fillings can also provide different comfort preferences. Our AMUSF membership reflects our professional approach to upholstery craftsmanship. We can restore cherished furniture, adapt existing pieces to suit a new interior or rework worn fabric and padding so furniture can continue to be enjoyed. Expertly crafted reupholstery for different settings
Our reupholstery work covers furniture used in homes and commercial settings, with upholstery for boats and marine seating also available. We specialise in reupholstering furniture from renowned makers, including Duresta, George Smith, Roche Bobois, Ercol, Parker Knoll, Cintique, Poliform and B&B Italia. For pubs, clubs and restaurants, we create upholstered seating designed around regular use, comfort and available space.
As a family-run business, we take pride in offering a personal and attentive service, helping with fabric selection by discussing the style, use, comfort and durability required for each piece. Our approach covers the practical details from discussing requirements through to the finished upholstery. With our Shepperton workshop as the base for discussions and workmanship, we create furniture finishes shaped around individual requirements and existing interiors.
What our customers say about us

I wanted to recover an armchair that I had had for years. I had noticed John Miller Upholstery in a nearby town and thought I would contact them to see if they could help. WOW! What a find. Thus began a journey which has resulted in the most stunning
re-upholstered chair. Their customer service is incredible. Whether on the phone or by email, you get an immediate response. Well-written, helpful emails. The ladies I spoke to in the shop were utterly charming and could not do enough to accommodate me regarding the fabric and the date when the work would commence. I thought the price very reasonable. I would really recommend John and his company, as they are everything that every company should be. Thank you to everyone at John Miller.

It’s the old story. You’ve had your favourite furniture items for quite a while, and now they’re looking past their best. Given that you use them every day, you can justify spending some money on a remedy. But what to do? You look around at replacement options and find (i) you can’t see anything you like, and (ii) you’ll be given a vague delivery date weeks or months into the future. That was my situation with my ageing sofas. How about the re-upholstery option? I went down to John Miller Upholstery for a chat, and the way forward became clear. I get to keep my sofas, and they get a new lease of life with a lovely, modern fabric. After a few weeks of sterling work, my sofas were returned looking brilliant. Well done, John and his team.
